how much for cam install
Not gonna be cheap. Keep in mind, you should probably change the timing chain and maybe the opti while you have it apart. LT1 timing chains arent cheap, so you may want to consider going with a standard double roller timing chain and an electric water pump. So basically, one million dollars, give or take

I would estimate that if you do it yourself. It would be roughly...
Cam $250
Timing gears and chain $150
new springs (depends on cam) $200
roller rockers $200
gaskets $80
-----------
$880 +-
Now if you want a mechanic to do it for you... Just tack on a grand and you're about right. But like said above, its not that hard to do. I'm in the process right now. Shoebox's websit is a god send for what you are look for. Good Luck, its all worth it in the end

Good point. If you go with a standard cam, there's really no necessity to dyno tune. However, a dyno tune would be the best way to do it. Another factor depending on how big or aggressive of a cam you decide on is upgrading fuel system components (injectors, fuel pump). These upgrades should be handled before you send your computer off for a reprogram, or you'll be doing it twice.
