Pics of my clutch... what's wrong???

Upon removing my tranny to pull my motor out for a rebuild, this is how I found my clutch. I know my rear main seal was leaking bad, but my question is why do I not have even wear on everything. Also, because the flywheel is burned, can it be resurfaced?

The parts are from SLP. Steel flywheel, pressure plate and clutch.

Any ideas?

Those parts look pretty normal, although your flywheel looks like it got it pretty good. It was sure slipping a lot, huh? I can't tell because the pics are really blurry, but it looks like you had some friction material left in the disc. You can tell that you have nothing left of the friction material, and the clutch has just "worn down" by looking at the holes in the friction material for the rivets. Run your hand over the holes. If you can feel the rivets (the friction material is just above or about even with the rivets) then its simply worn. If the rivets are sunk down still, that means your clutch met a premature end (most likely the oil). I can't tell if your flywheel is pitted in the picture. If its just burnt, then you can get it resurfaced. If it is gouged or pitted, you might not be able to, because the machinist would have to cut too deep to get beyond those imperfections. Either way, take it to a shop, and they can most likely tell you on the spot if it can be salvaged or not.

Yes,
The flywheel can be re-surfaced.
It did not wear evenly because oil has got on it and soaked into the disk. I bet this thing chattered a lot?
Replace the disk,
Re-surface the flywheel,
You should be able to clean up the pressure plate with 240 grit sand paper. You will have to sand all the purple (discoloration) off the surface.
New throwout bearing,
and I would replace the pilot bushing/bearing.

Good Luck with the rebuild

There was no grinding. I caught the disk just in time before I hit the rivets.

I would replace the PP as well.Heat kills the springs. You dont want to do the job twice ,do you?A small price to pay for reassurance.

There's no springs in the PP, but heat can still have a negative effect. A lot of heat can weaken the diaphragm, which will cause you to lose clamp load. When clamp load goes down, the pressure plate loses its ability to hold the disc snugly to the flywheel, and you might not get good launches. I'd recommend replacing the disc and pressure plate.
