How many runs on a bottle of NOS?
How many runs on a bottle of NOS?
Guys a friend of mine and I were talking about me perhaps squeezing a 75 shot or 100 shot...obviously the bottle sizes vary, but how many runs can you get on various bottles (1/4 mile runs at the track) and whats it cost to fill them up?

you would probably get a better answer if this were in the "nitrous oxide" section. maybe a mod will move it over there for ya.

A 10 pound bottle is a 10 pound bottle right?
I've had 2 different kits on my '96 Z28. A NOS dry kit (#5115)
http://www.geocities.com/MotorCity/S...3/redsn2o.html
and a NX wet kit. Both had the 10lb standard bottles. With a fresh, verified on a scale 10lb refill, I've observed the following;
50 shot = 10 to 15 consistent MPH quarter mile passes
100 shot = 6 to 8 consistent MPH quarter mile passes
150 shot = 3 consistent MPH quarter mile passes
All the above *usually* at 900psi at the bottle.
Bottle temp hugely affects how much N2O will be expelled during activation.
I've refilled at various places, MTI in Houston has been my most visited refill source and I paid around $40 w/tax this last refill.
My best performance with the 100 shot was in cold Feb air at Houston Raceway park.

1/4 mile ET: 11.1
1/4 mile MPH: 121

Rule of thumb:
100hp shot/10sec requires 0.8-1lb N2O.
I use a 150hp shot. With a 10lb bottle and runs a bit more than 10sec. using a short purge I find that I can get five runs per bottle, which goes along with the estimate. There is usually ~1lb left in the bottle after five runs.
