How many miles are on your LT1 ?
Re: How many miles are on your LT1 ?
162 k and tranny just went out. Owned it since it had 2k on it. Only other things have been the optispark(who hasn't) and a new radiator about 5k miles ago. They are pretty good cars in my opinion.

I think most of you would agree that the majority of engine problems in the LT1 are after a major mod like a cam swap and a nicked bearing or dirt could likely be the culprit. It does not help that too many insist on using the wrong oil and believing it is the best, but even then it usually isn't a problem.
I have two LT1 one cammed in my Caprice came with the L99 which on teardown at 110K had crosshatch in all bores and bearings looked great put in a 40K junkyard LT1 and another 50K on the car since so that motor is only around 90K if the junkyard was honest about the 40K. The 185K one in my wagon runs so well it pushed 4900lbs to 15.5e.ts the first night I took it and that was with minor intake work and 87 octane tuning stock exhaust 2.93s with 28" tall tires. She seems to be doing just fine even beat a friend in his 04 Impala SS you know the blown 3.8L ones. The b-body motors have the same exact bottomend as the f-body just a more lowend torque targeted cam and iron heads that flow a tad more than most of the aluminum ones so it is a valid comparison.

bought mine with 184k and blown head gasket, rebuit motor and it all looked really good for the miles. with just a gasket it would have run fine but i went the extra mile. had to do a fuel pump and opti. supposedly it had a tranny about 50k ago.
Re: How many miles are on your LT1 ?
well my first one has 170,000 miles on it and it still layed down a 108 mph trap speed with minor bolt ons.
The second one i just picked up has 74,000 on it. Unfortunately i have to sell the first one because i can afford both. But even with 170,000 miles, it suprised more than enough car at stoplights.

Re: How many miles are on your LT1 ?
169,000 on the stock motor and there were no problems with it but I just decided to rebuild it for more power, worst decision I ever made, I haven't been able to drive it more than a day straight ever since, and that was over 2 years ago. This is my second rebuild on the motor and 3rd on the tranny, the stock tranny started to shift just a bit soft at 125,000 miles and I bought a new one to replace it since I new I would be getting a new motor sometime in the future. I have had no luck whatsoever with my rebuilt motors or trannys, all have been done by different people on each rebuild too. It even ran a 13.70 on street tires "spinning off the line" with headers, 1.6 rockers "floating the valves at high rpm's because of weak stock springs", and the stock 3:23 rear gears, now I cant get it a 1/4 mile from my house before it breaks or overheats.
Re: How many miles are on your LT1 ?
150K on mine. Only replaced the waterpump since I had it (130K) as far as anything major. I've had to replace some sensors (coolant level & purge valve) but they are a common problem. My car still pulls like brand new and I'm pretty sure its still on the original opti. For that price you can afford to spend money to fix it and it will be worth more than what you put into it. Get it baby.
Re: How many miles are on your LT1 ?
93k on my 94 Formula. Still "learning" about her as she's only been with me for a couple months. Seems to run pretty strong after I've done some tune-up work (plugs, wires, air filter, fuel filter).
I had a 94Z that I put about 25k miles on and it was a strong runner. I had it from like 65k-90k and it was extremely reliable and that was through 2 upstate NY winters! I have seen plenty on this board in the 120k-160k area running very strong.
