Just wondering how many miles are on yalls LT1 and how strong is it running ?

Im asking cuse im looking into a LT1 with around 137k miles. Not sure if I should get a car with that high of mileage... It's a 1995 Z28 an the dealer is asking $3500 for it.

 

I have 137K on mine too no major problems except tranny

 

123K , Has been very dependable.

 

I got 142,xxx miles on my clock and I just had to replace the fuel pump, fuel filter, optispark, waterpump, plugs, wires, coil, brakes, and tires so be ready to spend some money on tuning the car up. All these parts where orignal stock parts so they were living on borrowed time anyways. My car still runs like a bat out of hell, just make sure the owner didn't abuse the living sh#t out of the car.

By the way how much are they asking for the car. what year?

 

Engine is about the last place you will have trouble. One of my LT1s has 185K and runs better than a friends with half that milage.

I would buy the car but be carefull, inspect the car, test drive the crap out of it and make sure your not gonna have to immediatly have to poor a couple thousand into it.

 

Well, i was thinking i would just take it down to the local HPE and have them inspect it and see what they have to say.

 

That doesn't look like too bad of a deal. Make sure you take it to a mechanic to check it out before you commit to anything. Also on the test drive, don't be scared to run it pretty hard, because that's how you find out things like the opti and fuel pump are going out. Also take off that bra and make sure the paint under it isn't bad.

Also, my car has 126k and it runs pretty good... it's a freak.

At about 135k both head gaskets blew. About 5k ago I had to put a piston and rod in because the wrist pin froze and when I went to start it, it came out the bottom of the piston.
I'm at 154k now. I have an 87 Iroc with 191k on it. I've had it since 120k and the only thing I have replaced it the OEM tranny.

 

118,000 and still going strong, as far as I can tell.

My mechanic has a teal 94Z with 423,000 miles. Claims the only things replaced are the water pump, optispark, and the auto tranny.
