If your LT1 is relatively stock, the stock program should manage your air/fuel ratio if your car is properly tuned. As the O2 sensors age, they get coated and cause the engine to run more rich. You might start with new Delco O2 sensors.

If it's stock, no need for programming. Tune up including new Delco O2 sensors.

Re: how to leen out lt1 ?

Why "no need for programming" if its stock? Simply leaning out the PE mode target A/F ratio tables is good for about 15HP on a stock engine. The stock tuning typically targets about 11.7:1 on WOT, compared to the 12.8-13.2:1 that most people find produces max power/torque.

Now, if its definitely running rich at part throttle/part load conditions, you may ALSO have a problem with the O2 sensors, a leak in the exhaust before the O2 sensors or misfires. Fix that problem first, then alter the PE tables yourself (LT1_Edit or TunerCat), or have one of the mail-order tuners that are recommended here do it for you.

Fred,

I was answering this thread regarding tuning to address his exhaust backfiring issue with a stock setup; HP gains are always good too
