That's how you do it. Just don't go crazy. Tap it until it is flush with the crank.

Re: how to install timing gear on crankshaft

I don't know if your asking because your just unfamiliar with installing it or if you're having trouble, but keep in mind that unless you've upgraded to a vented opti you cannot use a double roller timing chain set. I had a lot of issues a couple of weeks ago tracking down a timing chain that would work on my 93 Z. I got 4 different part numbers from Crane & Summit, I bought one and it didn't work. Everyone was trying to sell me chains for 95+ LT-1's.

Put it in the oven@ 300* for a couple of hours, have your pipe and beater handy and haul *** to the car and put it on.It will probably go on by hand.

Couldn't you just heat it with a torch? I don't know, just asking?

The oven is a controlled environment.

I put mine in a pan and heated it up that way. Grabbed it with a rag, ran into the garage and it slid on like butter.

Make it hot enough that if you drip water on it, it will sizzle.
