Exhaust popping...
Exhaust popping...
Whenever I'm cruising on the highway at about 2500-3000rpm with no throttle (highest I've cruised at, just got car back) and then I push the throttle it the exhaust makes a popping noise when I first press the throttle. The popping noise sounds like some car's exhaust when they are decelerating. What could cause this?
Absolutely not. Your car should not be popping/backfiring when accelerating, and it'll greatly effect the performance and gas mileage of the car. That popping noise is from raw fuel not igniting in the cylinger and in turn hitting the headers and making that backfiring noise. If it is a backfire/popping while accelerating it is most likely some sort of ignition issue, whether its old spark plugs and/or wires, bad opti, or bad ICM. When was the last time you replaced any of those?
I just got the car back from my mechanic, he replaced the spark plugs because the plugs were bad. Under WOT it feels full power.
It only pops when I first press the gas, not the whole time I'm on the gas.

Its not bad. He didn't say under acceleration if you read his post. He said with no throttle and then when he first pushes the throttle it pops. That would be backpressure in the exhaust. Its nothing bad. My car does it ALL the time on the freeway. Its not what your thinking.
