Hello I have a 96 LT1 and I would like to know if it is worth $150 to have the plugs and wires replaced that"s the best price I have found for labor. I do not have a lift but I do have a jack and stands but it looks really tight. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks

You can do them yourself, it is kind of a PITA tho.
I did my plugs in 2 1/2 hrs. You can do the driverside from the bottom, and the passenger side from laying across the motor. The hardest one is the one right below the alternator, just take off the alt. and your good to go

It is a difficult job and depending on your experience, can take you up to several hours. If you are short on time or don't feel comfortable with the job and have some extra money to spend, then take it to the shop. If you want to learn a few things about your car and save some money, then go for it. There are plenty of old posts that go over the procedure that should help you along. And if you really want to make spark plug and wire changes easier, get a set of long tube headers.

Also, if you have big hands/arms you might want to have them done. I've changed them several times on my 94 and it is the one time I was glad to have been born with "girls" hands.
I really don't see how someone with a big set of paws can get into some of those tight spots (#2 & #6 being especially tough).

Thanks

Once you get the Pacesetters, wires and plugs installed this time you ARE expected to change your own plugs when the next time comes around!! Just so you know.
Along with the headers, you might want to consider doing an over-the-valve cover wire setup as well. You know it's funny you said that about the over the valve cover wires I just took a look at them and I think it looks pretty cool. what do you guy's think ?
any pics?

pull the motor mount bolt out and raise the motor up 2"
i did all the plugs from the top with minimal problems...
by myself, first time ever doing it, plugs and rerouting wires...4hrs taking my time.

What would be the best method of jacking up your motor?
