how good is the stock balancer?

building up an AI200cc combo on a 355. full bolt ons, stock crank, arp bolts etc. forged 6" rods mahle pistons etc. looking for the 440rwhp area. can i run the stock hub and balancer and not worry about the bottom end? or is it worth it to spend the big bucks and get an ATI? i only plan on 6700rpm max for this combo, street car mostly, some track. just wondering how good the stock one is with a good balance job in the rotating assy.

Its not a balancer, its a harmonic damper. I doubt GM took anything above 6,000 rpm into consideration for the design. The ATI will reflect a design for higher RPM. It will also be SFI certified, and dated, which means it meet the requirements for NHRA (required under 11.00 seconds).

Whether you have nitrous is not a factor.

i know its a damper, i dont know why i called it a balancer, just a bad habit term lol while those are all pluses like SFI and higher rpm etc. i was just wondering what i could get away with without dropping the coin. i mean will i have a busted crank and beat up bearings or will it survive? anyone running it successfully at that power and rpm level? or is it w waste of time?

Ironic, I edited my post before finalizing it, it did say $400, but I changed it just in case, turns out I was right the first time.
