Hey bud, I thought your topic subject looked familiar and looked back your previous topics... you seem to like the "are you serious" type subjects. Why, I have no idea? But, in the future, please make your subject related to your topic. I've changed this one for you.

Also, you brought this one back up to the top with it being out there less than an hour. That isn't fair to the other members here... your questions are not more important than the others. So, please only bring your topics back to the top once per 24 hour period. If it is an emergency and you are stuck on the side of the road that's one thing... but that doesn't happen often

Thanks!

I'm with Brent on this one..... your topic should relate to the question. And why does everything have to be preceded by "wtf?". When I see people use that in the topic, I ignore the post.

Also, I think several people have suggested that you modify your "signature" so it tells people more about your car.... year, trans, any major mods. Maybe kill the caps lock, yada....yada.....

In order to get your oil pressure gauge question answered, you might want to mention whether it is a "mechanical" gauge or an "electronic" gauge.

Have a nice day.

definatly change the sig. if it tells people more about your car they will more likely be able to help you out.

there is a big difference between all the f bodies here. the oil pressure guage on my 79 firebird isnt the same as the guage on my 93 Z28

sorry about the caps haha.but im not sure if its electric or mech.all i know is that it has a tube in the back of the gauge for the tube to run in the block and two long screw installed into the guage for the + and - wire. and also it got the light inside.(of course).

its made by sun pro.it was saying i had to plug in into the engine block but someone told me to run the tube to the plug above the oil filter.sorry cant tell if its electric.

one other thing if u guys ever did the volts gauge how did u go about doing that.plz go into very good details about these two subjects.thanks for all your help.

you need to buy a fitting that will allow you to thread it into the block in place of your factory sending unit and have your sending unit and the tube for your gauge thread to that (T-fitting). The power + wire should be connected to a switched 12v power source, ie: acc terminal in the fuse box..dont forget the ground

If the oil pressure gauge has a tube with fittings to attach to the engine and no sending unit (like the stock gauge has), it is a mechanical gauge.

You can use the port just above the oil filter that has a plug in it. Look just below the "Digits 10-17" tag in this pic. You will need the correct fitting to adapt it to this port. It is much easier to access than the stock location that is behind the intake manifold. This is actually the location for the stock sending unit in 1993.

Yeah, I could see that. What I spoke of also keeps the stock gauge (if it isn't a 1993).

Are you aware only the 93 has the stock oil sending unit in the hole right above the oil filter. 94 and up have it mounted on top of the block, behind the intake manifold. There is a pipe plug in the hole above the oil filter. That's where I connected my mechanical oil pressure gauge.

I'm not sure why the 93 is even getting mentioned, since the guy who asked the question has a 94 - its just confusing things with irrelevant information????

Pull the plug out of the hole in the block we all seem to be dancing around and get a brass 90-degree fitting that will screw into the hole in the block. I attached an adapter to the other end of the brass 90 to allow me to use a -3AN braided stainless steel hose to run through the hole in the firewall where my clutch master cylinder used to be (car is now a TH400 automatic) and up to the dash (my oil pressure gauge is located in one of the center A/C vents). Then another adapter fitting to allow the -3AN hose to attach to the back of the gauge.

Exactly which fittings you need and how the elctrical connections are made depend on the brand of gauge you have and I'm not familiar with the SunPro. If you want to use the tubing that came with the gauge, how you attach it will depend on what the tube looks like. Does the tube have any kind of "fitting" on the engine end? If not, it may be a metal tube that requires a compression fitting.

I would take the plug out of the engine, take the plug and the gauge to an auto supply store, and ask them to give you the correct hardware to make it work.

On the electrical side, all you need is a connection for the gauge light. Any metal ground will work, and +12V power can come off the load side of the I/P dimmer switch, or the headlight switch, so the gauge light is only on when the headlights are on.
