oil pressure sensor or oil level?

Oil pressure is super easy to get to, just put some thread tape on it.

When you run out of oil from the leak, it will be more than crucial.

Mine was leaking pretty bad once, it doesn't cost much to fix.

1993 oil pressure sensor has easy access; the 1996 is located differently (behind the intake manifold below the EGR valve) and a little tricker to get to; Shoebox has a photo here: http://shbox.com/1/op_sensor.jpg

could the oil leak cause smoke to come out of the engine hood and the car too die?

If the oil is dripping on hot exhaust components, its going to burn and smoke. Probably won't cause the engine to stall. But its going to reduce the accuracy of the oil pressure sensor.

How did you determine it was leaking? How badly is it leaking? How much oil is the engine using?

When i first bought the car the oil was leaking from the intake gasket. he changed it for me and everything. then when i took it to my mechanic to for a pre buy inspection he told me i need to fix the oil sensor. so i thought no big deal. then after i took the car out for about 25 miles, all hell broke loose. The rear of the car started to make popping and grinding noises and when i got home the car stalled(has nothing to do with my previous post about stalling, had the idle adjusted) and smoke started to come from my hood. I checked under the car and oil was dripping. now about i say a quarter of a quart is gone. i dont know how much oil the car has been using. Where should my oil gauge be when driving?

You don't have an oil gauge only an oil pressure gauge. It should be around at leaste 20 at idle and 30ish when driving normal. 40+ at WOT
