LMAO.......... These threads kill me. You get the person starting the thread saying "I want to get a HOTcam, do I need XXXXX?" Then a few responses that actually answer the question....... Then the rest....... "The HOTcam is too small, you'll hate it blah blah blah." Sorry guys, I like my HOTcam, and for $479 you can't beat it. Sure you can go to another site that sells a bigger cam for X more dollars, but why? If you do the HOTcam and tune right it's a helluva mod for the money. I think some guys here get caught up on the old "More money=sooooo much more power" reasoning. All I'm saying is that it works for me, the cam makes great power, it's cheap and it's easy to get a mail order tune that is right on for it because of the number of HOTcams out there.

All I can say is I went 9.0 in the 1/8 on street tires and bolt ons, then did homeported heads, HOTcam, midwest converter, tune and BFG drags and went 8.18. That pass was with the DRs at 30 PSI so I have some room to work.

But if you do get the HOTcam kit, might as well get some better springs....... trust me.

For the money the hotcam sucks now that there are other companies offering better cams at nearly the same price.

Hey Gerry -

FWIW I am very happy with my HotCam. Billy at Lamotta did the install for me and I haven't had any major problems. I managed to pick up a bunch of power from it and the other mods I made at the time. If you can get to a CFFB show I'd be glad to talk more with you...

well one thing i like about the hot cam is that it can be used for many many applications (not cars but setups). As in, its not too too bad w/ NOS &/or blowers as well as NA. If you're not sure exactly where you want to go or how deep your rabbit hole is, then its not a bad investment. Just sayin its not for everyone. Its a nice kit though - hell I may end up going with it, ya never know.

I try to make it out to some CFFB events & MCO shows, but being a club DJ doesn't leave me much time on saturday nights.
I still try though.

I know Jake lamotta a little, he's a cool guy & he runs a great shop.
Im good friends with the Blacks " www.blacksautomotive.com " i always play their dyno days.
Thats how i got to know Jake & dyno my cars.

What mods did you have when you installed the hotcam, what mods do you have now?

Oh really? Well the whole kit, cam, roller rockers, springs, retainers etc. is $476.77. It's part #12480002 on www.gmpartsdirect.com if you'd like to see. Also you can get the cam only for 164.31, it's part #24502586. I'd really like to see somebody offer something comparable at anywhere close to those prices. And also, how do you arrive at "for the money the hotcam sucks"? Have you ever owned one? I might pay attention to you opinion if you had one, then swapped for something else.

Gerry - Before I got the work done I had a K&N FIPK, Whisper MAF ends, 1LE driveshaft, and SLP "2OTL" exhaust. I put down 284 RWHP at the time...

Now, in additon, I have the LT4 conversion, BBK 52 mm TB, Hooker LT's, Mufflex ORP, OBD1 PCM by PCMFORLESS, Meziere water pump, NGK plugs, MSD 8.5mm wires. This combo laid down 384 RWHP. Needless to say, I'm pretty pleased...

For the money it does suck! Everyone used to talk about getting the hotcam because they were on a budget. Now you cant use that excuse anymore. Considering you can put $100 more with the $476.77 you wouldve paid for the hotcam and get a more aggressive cam, better rr's, and better valve springs from Combination Motorsports. Thats why I say its not that great of a deal anymore.

I wouldnt put any cam in a car without having headers and a good exhaust system. If you do you will be disappointed at all the hard work that went into installing the cam and you wont feel a big difference. Depending on what cam you decide to go with it may need some major tuning also.

I know this is off the subject, but what kinda music do you spin at the club???
