Hot cam questions?

I hear alot about this cam.
Where can i buy a hot cam kit?
How much will it cost?
What gains will i see?
Is it a good cam for a mild exhaust/intake LT1?
Thanks.

You can buy the LT4 hot cam kit from www.gmpartsdirect.com
the part number is 12480002. The price is $476.77
This is the cheapest i have found the kit for anywhere. Yearone also carries it but it is 545.

Has anyone done the lt4 hot cam kit on their lt1 without the lt4 heads or intake. And what kind of hp and torque increase did you see.
thanks
ravi

Gmpartsdirect sucks when it comes to shipping costs. I always buy parts from www.Paceparts.com.

As for how does a Hotcammed LT1 feel... A lot like an LS1 feels.

when i bought my car it had the hotcam kit, headers, and the usual bolt ons....with the help of an lt4 knock module we cut a bunch of false knock out, and ive run in the 12s with it...with no head work, nor LT4 heads or intake manifold

if you want mildly modded street driven, it gives you good power, good sound, and decent gas mileage

With hotcam, long tubes, gears, stall and a couple other little things, I ran a 13.3 up here (DA anywhere from 7000-11,000 feet).

Stock LS1's run mid to high 14's up here to give you a reference.

The HOTcam kit feels pretty good. I got mine from gmpartsdirect.com as well. It has a pretty good sounding idle to it, you'll probably want to get a tune and an LT4 knock module to go with it. It's the best bang for the buck IMO.

I TOTALLY AGREE!!!!!! Wow...i just got done writing an email to gmparts direct asking them why the need to charge me 20 bucks shipping for a 1LE Elbow and a LT4 Knock Module..they responded...they gain profit from S&H...it helps maintain the website...and they said the parts are cheap..but in reality when you slap on a hefty S&H bill with that..the parts are not cheap anymore

You can also try

Sam Smith 1-800-395-1440

or

Jason Cromer

1-877-726-8295

I believe they are both gm parts dealears who have really good prices. I forget which one of them I ordered from, but they had the cheapest prices by far (a lot cheaper than gmpartsdirect)

It is a good mild cam for a daily driver. I am very pleased w/ mine.
But some people complain it is too small a cam. And definitely get a tune if you get the cam.

You dont need the LT4 timing chain!

For a $100 more you can get a better cam, better rr's, and better valve springs from Combination Motorsports.
