Question Hot cam kit or LTs and 1.6rrs?????

I am thinking about adding a few mods to the Z this coming summer and I am debating between doing the hot cam kit alone, or Hooker LTs and some 1.6rrs.

currently I am running K&N FIPK, mac crank pulley, mac headers and y, 3" cutout, custom catback, and a NX 100 shot.

I dont really want to spend lots of money so I am looking for the best option here. I still havnt ruled out doing 3.73s also.

any other suggestions would be cool to.

You already got headers, Y and exhaust. I would go with the Hotcam kit. It comes with 1.6 rockers so you kill 2 birds with one stone.

I wouldn't sink a penny into the 10-bolt. If you don't want to do a cam again, and are happy with the hotcam, then go that route. Good cam for everyday and for the buck. If you go LTs, you haev to figure the cost of a custom y-pipe/wires/etc. But you can always sell your Macs for the price of all the extra crap. I love my LTs.

Very good point!
Leave that 10 bolt alone until it takes a bolt. Then just get two more bolts.

If I were you, I'd go with the hotcam kit....

I would go with the HOT CAM kit out of those two options, be aware though that you may want a bigger cam within a year of installing the HOT CAM, well at least I started wanting a bigger cam. Am currently trying to decide which one.

lol, good call with the rear end guys . Both routes sound appealing to me, I will just have to think it out some more. The only real reason I want to go with LTs is becuase my gaskets are fried with the macs, and the last time this happened I had to take the headers out to get them polished clean........so I figure why not put some LTs in their place this time with some quality gaskets.

Order (1) GM HOTcam Kit
(1) Replacement timing chain
(1) Set of Fel-Pro exhaust gaskets
(1) Tube of Permatex Hight Temp Orange RTV gasket maker
Lot's of patience.................. heh

Smear the high temp RTV on your new gaskets and I garauntee if you get a good coating(not sloppy and overflowing) that you won't have any more leaks there. You already have the headers, go with the HOTcam. Then when you get some money do a mail order tune.

That patience you speak of...where's the best place to get it?
