Hot Cam in a 94??

Alright I searched and couldn't really find what i needed. I need to know what all needs to be done to the cam to work with a non-vented opti set-up. I think I remember hearing that just the dowel pin had to be milled down a little, but can't remember if that is all.

Re: Hot Cam in a 94??

I'm not sure about that 'cos the early LT1 cam has splines in the middle to accept the opti. Check the middle to see if it has splines and how it'll accept the opti.
I was having issues with my non-vented opti everytime the weather got crappy so I switched to a vented opti when I did my cam. You'd to get the timing cover from a '95 and the vacuum lines that run from the intake to the opti and then to the intake manifold. I made my own lines using vac. tubing. Haven't had a problem since.

As long as the dowel pin clears the timing cover (and it probably will), there is nothing to do.

If you did your own vacuum lines, you should have included the two blue discs that come on the factory harness. The one that reduces vacuum is especially important as to keep from sucking the opti together under periods of high vacuum.

the cam is not what had the splines, it was the timing gear that had the splines, all that is needed to run a newer cam(vented opti) on a early(non vented) engine is to cut the dowel down as needed to clear the timing cover
