aLl i think of is taking out the head lights and trying to get to the latch somehow that way...difficult but....what else is there...? unless there's a way to reach if and rlease it from under the car...but I think the radiator equipment would be in the way.

well, today I am going to jack the car up and start taking brackets and hopefully enough stuff out of the car enough so that I can clear to the hatch... wish me luck... any other ideas?

the lights are already out of both sides, still no room to reach hatch.

If I remember correctly you should be able to pull out a few of the panels below the front fascia, then undo the pushpins running in front of the radiator, and be able to squeeze your hand in there.... I think.

Cool

Actually when my cable broke(among other things),I just used a coat hanger, bent the end ,crawled under the car,and with a flashlight, found the mechanism, pulled on it ,and it released.(I think I had to pull it to the left,or right, can't remember.Hope this helps.(Now,putting in a new cable,we are talking hours of fun.My02)(I don't remember removing any under car stuff though.)
