i was wondering about that as well?

also, are you running the stock torque arm?

Excellent work jchevy, can't wait to hear this setup. Only thing that I'd maybe tweak a little would be the driver side where you flattened it for the tranny mount. They were able to tuck my custom ypipe and I'd think with a little modifying what you have you could make a smooth transition, then again maybe it's not enough to affect the flow on that side, I'm just going by the camera angle.

Again nice work

yes, Im running a stock Tq arm. The y-pipe is beat from when I first put the headers on before i did motor mounts, I took a hammer to it to keep it from banging the floor. Probably should have replaced the piece of pipe, but its really not as bad as it looks.

I wish I could get some pics of the exhaust on the car, but its pretty tough without a lift.

Exhaust hangs lower than I orginally thought, but its still higher than the header collectors. I lightly rubbed it going over a speed hump today.

Is the driver's side Ypipe "clearanced" or is it bashed in? The system looks pretty darn clean. The fabricating looks better than a few shops around here poop out . You did a very nice job, IMO .

I'm not a big fan of bullet mufflers, but that is a personal preference. Regardless, props on the work!

Im not a big fan of bullets myself, but I really had no choice unless I took out the bottom half of my trunk.

The Y-pipe was "clearanced" with a hammer

Looks good. I just finished my exhaust this weekend as well and I LOVE IT. I'll never go back to a catback on a performance buildup, just the change to 3" duals was enough to convince me.
I got mine on the driver's side to clear without denting the pipe by trimming a little from the lip on the drivers side of the crossmember, then making the pipe into a slight oval in a large vise. I mean SLIGHT. No clearance problems at all. Not to mention I managed to finagle 2 mini cats on there and run them under the car into my race bullets. Stainless is a PITA to weld compared to mild steel btw. ground clearance is the same compared to the catback with the X-pipe.
Your welds look clean though. I bet it'll sound mean! What are you doing for exhaust tips?

that looks great.......i am wanting to do this sometime soon. However i wonder how it would work if you could get titanium (i know welding it wouldnt be as strong as if you were in the proper environment, but you could still seal it)

i bet that would be killer on weight red.

How much was it total????? and yes, please get a vid of it......i would LOVE to hear it.

How exactly are you clearing the torque arm then? that was the one thing i could never see working with duals, because it goes straight back to the axle. Did you get both pipes to fit in the tunnel on the passenger side of the tq arm? If you did, bravo!

That looks awesome! I am doing kind of the same thing. I have my old 2.75 catback exhaust, I hacked it up and I am using it as a template for my 3" exhaust. It is $4 a foot here for 3" piping. So $40 dollars and a muffler is all its going to cost. Pretty cheap IMO.

Also get a soundclip of it when you get it installed. I have a 3" bullet muffler like those you are using, but it dumps like right before the axle, and IMO it's WAY to loud.

Hooker Headers, Hooker Y pipe, 3" bullet muffler attached to Y-pipe = too loud in the car. I love the way it sounds outside of the car though. Maybe getting it to exit out of the car will make a huge difference on the in cab sound.

Looks good man. I clearenced the tranny crossmember and angled the pipe a little on my 3" true duals so I didn't have to mash the pipe at all. I also put an X-pipe and ran the duals under the rear but I prefer your pipes running over. I also have 2 bullets a few inches before the bumper then tips welded to the bulllets. You can't see my exhaust hanging anywhere under my car but I just like running over the axle better. I didn't think it was possible to run 3" pipes like you did. good job Later Clint

What do you do if you have to drop the tranny, does the whole thing have to come out?
