Thanks for the help everyone, I really need this car back on the road. It's my only form of transportation, I work 3 jobs and take 15 credits paying for this car and my education it's just hard when crap like this happens.

Problem Solved! Turns out my intake elbow is torn underneath where I couldn't see it after the MAF sensor. I did a quick duct tape patch and it is 90% better. No more bogging and it revs normal now, but its not entirely 100% As soon as I can I'm buying an intake elbow. Thank you for the help everyone.

Edit: Turns out I was dead wrong. Read below.

Glad to see it wasn't something expensive or difficult to fix.

Maybe since it is a 350ci and not a 305ci motor all that horse power torqued the unibody and ripped the boot. I would be careful when doing burnouts and dounuts on a low budget. Do midgets go and ask if they can join the NBA? Possibly but not like anybody cares.

- Stock cars are not fast, I own one and they blow more than my ex-girlfriend did. But oh well we all know that ricers run 11's and 12's stock so no matter what we do with all this horsepower we will never be fast.

Well turns out I was dead wrong. Problem returned soon after and the elbow was properly in place. I limped it to my shop a few towns over pulling into the driveway with the temp gauge almost in the red. The bogging becamse almost unbearable to the point where the car would accelerate like a honda pulling a 50 foot boat. The bizarre part about all this is that it idles perfectly fine. I put the car up on the lift and noticed the water pump looks like its going. I ordered a new water pump and I'm putting it in tomorrow, that is probably the cause of the overheating. However the bogging down was there before the over heating so I don't believe thats the cause. I ran my computer and no codes are present at all. So now I have to go through the slow process of guess and check. I will do a full tune up this weekend, check my fuel pressure, then look towards the dreaded opti. I've heard when a water pump goes typically so does the opti. I don't know how much merit that has but hell all of this kind of happened all at once.

You can get you cats checked with a infared temp gun. if its really cold on the output end then the cats are clogged. I had this happen to two other cars (not LT1's) when I was horsing around just like that! You can also knock on the converter to see if the guts are loose. Sometimes the cats clog and sometimes the guts actually come loose and lodge in the exhaust output. It's kinda like the movie 48 hrs and when the banana gets stuffed in the tail pipe-except much worse. You can seperate the exhuast to troubleshoot as well as the infared gun. If you oil press is good and there's no knocking then its probably not the motor. And unless there is alot of metal in the tranny pan my bet is the emmisions converters. Also if the converters are bad make sure it's not burning oil or very rich that would cause the converters due to the pre-exsisting condition.

if your water pump is leaking, it could very well be your opti, and you would hate to replace the water pump, then find out the opti took a crap, then have to pull the pump again.

That was Beverly Hills Cop, starring none other than Judge Reinhold!

Hey I was wanting to look into a cam like yours. Is that a custom grind? How the setup working? I am gathering parts for a 96 lt1 m6 H/c project. I was also going with pretty much same setup. How's your do on emission, fuel milage & is it a weekly/daily driver? Also are you happy with the SLP shorties with that cam and do you have any head work? Thanks for any feedback.

If the waterpump is leaking onto the opti then I would doubt the opti needs to be pulled especially since it's vented (at least assuming since engine is out of a '96 car). This happened to me where the opti got wet, engine sputtered.. so on and so forth... drove it around like that for about a week before I looked at it, replaced the WP, let the opti dry for a few days and it was fine.

FAR WORSE THEN I EXPECTED. Blown Intake gasket. I'm looking at a $1500 repair job. I don't have that kind of money laying around. The Camaro is being put away until I can manage to put together that kind of money, I'd say it's going to take at least 3-4 months minimum to gather up that. This sucks, I finally get my dream car and 6 weeks later it's gone. Well I'll gladly take donations lol

why don't you just replace it yourself? The gasket is probably cheap enough, and removing the intake can't be that hard. Get a manual and do it yourslf! Good luck what ever you do.

All your symptoms sounds like a clogged cat, like the overheating, I dont know why a bad intake gasket would cause it to oveheat since no coolant goes through it. I worked on a v6 that when you first started driving it it would be fine and then as soon as it got warm it would start to act up so it threw me off for awhile, but then i realized how hot the motor was and the change in exhuast tone so i had my dad rev it and there wasnt near enough air coming out the back.

overheating, blown intake gasket??, $1500 repair bill, come on you all. he is probably talking head gasket. 17 yrs old, had the car for 6 weeks... small burnout... lol, yea right.

plus when have you known someone to blow an intake gasket unless their boosted or fire a shot of nitrous the wrong way?
