Re: Hitting the rev limiter

The tranny shifts fine until he floors it. When it hits the rev limiter it just bounces off of it. until he lets off of the gas then it shifts. When he drives normal it shifts normal. Even under hard acceleration. it just does not shift when he hits the rev limiter until he lets off the gas. then it shifts very hard with no slipping.

Before my firm shift tune..my car sounds like it was doing the thing as your buddies...I would take it to the limit and since the stock shift is so soft..it kinda takes a few seconds but I wait until it shifts finally. I got sick of that so I did a tune and added a firm shift and my car seems to be WAY better at shifting when progressing to high RPM at WOT. I thought I had a different car...anyhow I use Dextron and I noticed a better shift with it over other brands I have used as well. I would totally try some options before telling him bad news that might not be so sure...

Re: Hitting the rev limiter

Thanks for all the help. I told him to be prepared to drop a nice chunk of change on a new tranny.
