higher idle?

ok i think ive finally figured out what the SES light was.. (Advanced nor auto zone could scan it) well by figured out what it was i mean i know what the prob is not whats causing it.. anyway the car is idling at 1k rpm in park (its an auto set to idle at around 600) any guesses as to waht could cause this after a radiator change?? oh and lets not forget the car is running HOTTER now with the new radiator..

Re: higher idle?

What code do you feel would be turning on the SES light... I don't see one for idle speed in the OBD-I DTC list. Maybe the throttle blades aren't closing, and it for high TPS voltage. Is it possible you damaged the coolant temp sensor, and its reading too low? That would possibly increase idle and cause the fans to not turn on.

But why guess..... get it scanned. Typically Auto Zone will only scan OBD-II cars.

Re: higher idle?

yep auto zone wouldnt scan it, took it to napa this mornin.. 3 guesses as to what it was ... engine coolant temperature sensor.. they ran a datastream on it while it was runnin and the car thought it was -40C... no wander it was idled up they put the new sensor in and took care of that for 30 bucks.. but i made em go ahead and put in a new 160 t-stat that was another 50 but oh well, everything is great and service light is gone

Re: higher idle?

Did they have the correct thermostat for the reverse flow cooling system in the LT1? Most places don't carry them, and aren't even aware the LT1 needs a different type t'stat.
