high idle, no shifting..!!!

kind of chilly morning, about 40-42 or so.

crak my car, high idle. i think "well ok, it does this when it gets cold, it'll be alright"

so i wait a sec, then pull out of the driveway.

the thing wont shift gears either now. so i make it to the gym (all 25-30 mph roads through campus), stopping in several parking lots and putting it in neutral and letting the car just rev like it wants to til it warms up. water gets up to temp, and it's still doing it, not shifting, very high idle now (2000 rpm on a stock stall so i'm chirping the tires every time i shift into drive or reverse)

the overrun clutches still work in first gear, when i pull it down i can still engine brake if i want to.

at this point i get really pissed, give it about 75% throttle and tear *** out of the parking lot, it shifts second weakly at 5300rpm.

worked out, and it did it the entire way home as well.

wtf!!!

trans is fairly new, got a B&M shift improver kit in it...my question is what computer mode am i in to deserve this kind of crap in the mornings

I don't even know if the IAC could let the car idle at 2000 rpm. It sounds like, and this is just a guess, that your timing set jumped a tooth (advanced) or the chain stretched. Is the car still doing it?

I was having this same exact problem and I could not figure out what the heck was going on so I did a search and found this post, changed the TPS and that was the fix. I wanted to say thanks for this post it really helped.
