High idle after !EGR and fixing intake leak
High idle after !EGR and fixing intake leak
On cold startup, my idle is now around 13-1400 rpm and drops down to just over 1000 rpm at idle. What could be causing this, just the !EGR mod? Do I have to get the EGR programmed out? I always thought OBD1 didnt have to do that.
Re: High idle after !EGR and fixing intake leak
I don't know, but does it constitute a problem? Is your tach reading high a couple of hundred like most others? If it is than you are really around 1200 at start up and around 800 at idle, which sounds about right to me for an M-6. JMHO
Re: High idle after !EGR and fixing intake leak
No, its not that its reading high, because it was always reading below 1000 at idle. You can even tell by the sound that its running high.
Re: High idle after !EGR and fixing intake leak
The computer will throw a code if you don't program out the EGR. Did you clean your TB while you had the intake off? I found after I cleaned my TB the rpms would hang. I dabbed some oil on the butterfly rod where it enters the TB housing and it fixed the rpm hanging issue.
Re: High idle after !EGR and fixing intake leak
Everything was cleaned pretty good before reassembly. Yeah it does have a constant SES light, but I know I need to program that out. The throttle isnt sticking at all, the idle is just high.
Re: High idle after !EGR and fixing intake leak
I guess I'll check the blockoff plates I made. I think the alum may have been too thin of a guage to seal properly. I'll probably just order some GM blockoff plates if that is the case.
