high idle

I tried searching this topic, but topics with high would show up so i got nowhere. I have a high idle (1000 - 1200 rpms) what are the main factors in this problem and where would the parts be located?

Check out the sensor which plugs into the elbow of the intake. Spray it down w/ carb cleaner and if that doesnt work take off the tb and spray everything down w/ carb cleaner.

Did you clean your TB lately? I found that my idle would hang after cleaning my TB. Dab some oil on the butterfly rod where it meets the body of the TB.

Re: high idle

First check to make sure the blades are closing fully when you let off on the pedal. Might be sticking open a bit. Then check for significant vacuum leaks.... the engine can't idle high unless its getting too much air from somewhere.

If you have access to a scanner, check the IAC motor "counts".... that will tell you if the PCM is trying to lower the idle speed using the IAC. If it is, there's a chance the IAC counts are bottomed out at "0". If that's the case, its a sign either the IAC motor has closed fully and the engine is getting the air from another source, or the IAC motor is not responding to the PCM "counts" command.
