High idle
High idle
94 lt1. Finally got it transplanted in my truck and its running good (cept for blowing a coolant hose off in my yard). It sat and idled for about 7 minutes while we let it get hot enough to make sure the thermostat kicked in. We changed the oil since it had a cam install. After I drove it to my house (2 miles) it is idling at about 1400-1500. Before it was idling at 800-1000 while sitting in my mechanics garage. I dont have the o2's hooked up yet and I have straight headers until I get exhaust hooked up tomorrow. What could be the problem? This looks like the only problem besides a broken knock sensor. Is it a problem to drive with the knock sensor broken on the motor? Thanks...
I'd say get the rest of the truck/exhaust/sensors put back together...I notice whenever I would unplug one or more of my o2 sensors the idle would rise some...I don't think you've got a problem...at least not at the moment...
Most likely its fine. I am just paranoid. See I have one o2 plugged in and one not, so its getting some screwy readings right now. Gonna drive it to the exhaust shop in the morning. Street and performance LT1 headers (mid length), 2 1/2" pipe, no cats, X pipe, 2 dynomax 4" bullets, turndowns before rear axle. Should sound nice I hope. right now it doesnt have that much power at the low end cause the lack of backpressure, but its insanely loud.
Well I got full exhaust installed, and the o2's in. Granted they are the stock 130k mile o2s from my truck, they are in.
It is still idling really high in park, around 1700rpms. In gear it will only idle around 1200 or so, and sitting at a stoplight, it will sit at 800rpms with my foot on the brake.
What should I start checking to troubleshoot this?
