Here's a good one that might not have been ask yet!!!

Lets say you have a full bolt on LT1 with true duals and a CC305 cam
and lets say you have a full bolt on LT1 with true duals and a CC305 cam,
with a carb.

Would the carb make more power than the fuel injected intake????
I was figuring like a750CFM carb.

I really don't want to turn this into a carb vs fi debate, I figure it would be cheaper to build without all the fi stuff and at home tuning without a conputer. 400 bucks for tuning is alot of $$$$$$$$$, and if more HP is available with a carb, I'm all for it. This is on a 95 Lt1.

I planned on using an extra LT1 that I have, in a 85 elcamino.
I wanted to know if it was worth the $$ to put in as a FI or if
I could get more power out of it as a carb motor ???

generally you see better power throughout the curve with the fuel injection.

I have actually seen it the other way around before.

but.. you cant beat the driveability and fuel mileage of fuel injection.

It all depends on the intake and carb you are going to use. For the money i would say go carb! Can't say for sure which will make more power, but I think it would be close if you had a decent intake and carb instead of the FI.

Fuel injection is good for: Better throttle response, more part throttle power, and better gas mileage. (expensive)

Carb is good for: Simplistic tuning and WOT power. (cheap)

Now, is it worth piecing all of the pieces together from a stock fi LT1 car or dropping a large chunk of change for an aftermarket fi setup? I'd probably say no. That's if you don't have the stuff already. Just carb it. My .02.

To make the same power you'll likely spend the same getting the carb and distributor all dialed in. Unless you spend the time to get the right jetting and timing advance you likely won't see the power you want. It would be like driving the efi untuned it won't be at its potential.

I would say good intake and the right carb will make more hp then the stock LT1 intake setup.....but the FI would make more midrange power and torque

a 350ci SBC @ 5,500 rpms does not need more carb the a 650cfm

Re: Here's a good one that might not have been ask yet!!!

A carb/manifold will only make more power if you are outside the airflow capabilities of the stock EFI manifold. And when that happens you are better off converting a carb manifold to EFI. The miniscule power increase that is availible from a carb at WOT does not even come close to the advantages of EFI when cold start, changing climate/altitude, and fuel milage are taken into consideration.

It all comes down to what power range you are in and what quality of EFI components you are using.
