Re: Help Troubleshoot possible fuel problem

I think that Jack is right. If you didn't cut the old quick connect off the old flex tube and install it on the new one, It won't seal the fuel will just drain back off and cause the hard starting. Thats what I did wrong with my install. I went back into the tank and hooked it up with the slip lock and BINGO fixed starts right

Wait. Lets go back a few. I only bought the pump assembly without the harness. Now can you explain what you said about the "Did you connect the flex tube to the black push-lock fitting or directly to the metal tube?"

"Push the expanded end of the pump's flex tube onto the black push lock connector (not the metal tube). It may be a bit tight so use some supplied silicon grease if required. Tighten the gear clamp firmly. Do not over tighten the gear clamp causing it to distort."

Ok. I connected the flex tube directly to the metal tube. I did not use the black push lock connector

What size is the flex tube and the metal pipe that need to be connected. I found two sizes at a NAPA store: 3/8" and 5/16"
