HELP!!!!Smoke from dashboard------->

Well,I let the car warm up as I was getting ready to pick the kids up from school.I get in the car to leave and it's filled with smoke/haze and the stench of burned electrical items!

I shut it down right away and proceed to see smoke bellowing out of the speedo cluster area(definetly this side of the dashboard).I restart the car after a couple of minutes and no smoke but still the smell.
I just tried it again and the smoke came flowing out of the speedo area once more!The only electrical modification on the car is the Viper Alarm/Remote Starter/Starter kill and all that was installed September of 2000! This is the first incident like this.

Any and all replies appreciated!!!

Pull off the fuse panel on the side and the bottom dash panel and look at all the relay fuses.

There is obviously some type of wiring problem. About all you can do is remove the bottom panel and take a look. Perhaps when they did the alarm install, somthing was under par but good enough to last 2 1/2 years before causing any issues.

You are just going to have to search for it. The more smoke you can avoid, the better.

Pretty much what everyone else has said.

I had a similar problem a year ago with smoke coming from the gear selector area. It ended up being a pinched wire that powered the center console bin light. Apparently, I would lean/rest my arm on the console too much when driving and somehow over time the wire got pinched.

I can't really see how you would have this same problem with something in the gage cluster area, but you never know.
Good Luck.
