help on plugs wires

Hello,

when i've done my LE2 heads change, i decide to upgrade plugs wires to MSD ones.

It has been a real pain to do this change ( i didn't though it was) and after routing them 2 times (stock location) to have them put the best way, i end up with a retainer that fell and burnt wires ...

I had also a problem with my pacesetter headers and too big boots on plugs with the MSD so wire boot burnt 2 time on cylinder 6.

I'm now tired on doing this stuff and want to do it for the last time, so i want to know :

1) is there a real gain with performance wires ? if not i will just put my OEM wires back but would love having a drawing of how they were routed and what retainers were used

2) anyone has another nice solution to this problem as i've seen with a search it is a real problem on this car having it working fine. I would prefer not an ovc system because i don't really beleive it would nice to see wires on engine (but if you have pics showing me it could be nice i would love)

Thanks

Pierre

yeah, I learned easy fixes after burning wires myself.

I just wire tie the plug wires in only a couple spots loosely. I know I use the motor mount bracket for one.

I've done the same thing on the driver side. And then made a little bracket up front to keep them from rubbing the pulleys.
Also loosen the power steering pump to give you room to pass the wires between the block and the tube from the pump on the pass side front corner.
here's the little bracket

This is the very reason i prefer the Moroso Plug Wires vs the MSD's. The MSD's are very nice quality but the boot it just too big, the Moroso is a good plug wire as well but with a much more manageable boot to deal with.

The stock wires probably won't like the heat and are also expensive to replace. I've had good luck with Accel 9000 wires. Of course no wire will last if it's touching the header. The passenger side wires can be routed below the power steering pump, thus avoiding the tight fit in the stock location.

yes i do beleive it is not so nice to see all these wires over the engine :s

but i've now learnt it is a real pain in the *** to make a change in these wires the normal routing : i spent a whole day yesterday to re-route the stock wires in the stock location ((( I don't want the MSD anymore : boots are too big and come too close my headers, especially on cylinder 6 (burnt 2 times) and 8.5 mm wire is more than a pain to route in the stock location. I had to remove : alternator, steering pump, tensionner, damper ...

i've paid to learn there are things better not to touch if they perform ok
