Help Please! Ignition problem?
This problem started a few weeks ago! I would be driving the car and it would shut off and refuse to crank!! Then after sitting for a while, it would crank and run. Sometimes when it would crank and idle, I would press the gas, the car would rev and shut off, and not crank back? It would just turn over and over. The security light was staying on, so I searched for answers, thinking it was related to the SES or fuel pump. The fuel pressue at the fuel rail was only reading 20 PSI, so I replaced the fuel pump and filter. Now I am seeing 40 lbs of pressure!! I did the Shoebox resistor fix for the key, which worked out great! Thanks! The security light went off and hasn't returned! So after thinking the car was fixed, I decided to give it a drive! Much to my dismay, I got stranded again!!!!! Luckily, I made it into and Autozone parking lot. We scanned it and it gave 2 faults: P1371 which says Ignition control or missfire! Has anyone had this problem?? I have been searching for hours on here for questions!! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

what did you search? for result i got was from one of the best guys on here.
P1371 = Distributor ignition system - low resolution pulse loss.
This means the PCM can not find the signal from the Opti optical sensor that tells the PCM the cam position. It needs this to time the ignition and fire the injectors. If it can't find the low res pulse, it shuts down the fuel system. If your engine is still running, even poorly, this is a "stored" code, because if its an "active" code the engine wouldn't be running at all. Check the two harness connectors on the Opti harness for corrosion or pin damage. Clear the code and see how long it takes to come back. If you are having problems with the low res pulse, you may also be having problems with the high resolution pulse, which the PCM uses to "fine tune" the ignition timing. This one may not set a code until the high res pulse is completely gone, not just erratic.
