Help o2 sensor problem!

I believe that the threads on my driver side header are stripped. The sensor will not tightly screw in. I can turn it all day, and it'll never tighten. I also can't seem to shake an engine code, and I'm guessing this is why. Is there any way to easily repair this problem?
These are also not the stock headers, they're shorty aftermarkets (if that should matter).
Thanks

You can buy O2 bungs from Jegs pretty cheaply. Buy em. Cut/grind the old one out, and weld in the new one. Screw in the new sensor. It really shouldnt take that long. Just make sure your a decent welder cause you dont want to "blow through" the headers

Thanks my friend. I love being able to come to these boards with a question, and quickly walking away with an answer.

Re: Help o2 sensor problem!

Are the headers "coated"? Sometimes the coating will prevent the threads on the sensor from engaging the threads on the sensor bung. If thats the case, its simply a matter of cleaning up the threads on the bung.

Yea before you go buying a bung and having to get it welded in and everything, try running a tap and chaser through it first.

Exactly, I had to do that on my drivers side header in order to get the 02 sensor in.

They are ceramic coated, but the plugs have gone in fine before. I think I've had these for about 4 years now? The bung just seems too loose now.

You could always try to repair the threads ? I dont know what would hold up to that kind of heat though?

I think you just have to weld them shut and get new bungs.
