help new owner

I just bought a 94 z28 with a six speed. it has a couple mods, but i dont think its much. I am new to the lt1, but i do know a lot about cars. so here is a list of beginer questions. Here is my setup thus far. MSD ingnition, taylor wires, champion plugs. other than that straight up stock. How does it look for starters. i just replaced the cap rotor and distributor 642 dollars for parts. did i replace what everybody is refering to as the "opti" i have never seen a ditrib behind a water pump. are the components thus far good. i think the first thing i will do is change the plugs. i have the six speed tranmission. is it good adn what is it called. what are my gear ratios in the rear end? any other information on the car would be greatly appreciated. by the way had to replace the distrib because bearing went out and melted everything. i have never seen a distub cap that cost so much. anything else i should replace for starting out. 110,000 miles. thanks for any advice and input. i would appreciate all comments

sorry the trans is a borge warner T56(six speed) , and the cap and rotor that you are talking about for that kind of $ sounds like a new (opti) optispark, wich is the distribitor for these cars , you should look at the water pump(just above the opti)there is a small hole in the bottom of it , make sure it is not (or has been)driping or leaking from this hole, if it has it will ruin the opti(they dont take to water too well) so with that many miles i'd watch it , hope this help's you out
