help!, how to get rusted bolts out?

hi, im taking off my stock y-pipe that bolts onto the manifold, those bolts are froze on there! i snapped one off, have to drill and retap, how do i get these out? i heard of heating them red hot, can a regular propane torch heat them up enough? or do i need oxy-acetalene torch to do it? well any tricks if you know any please let me know, thanks!

ps: already sprayed plenty of penetrating lube on it, no luck there

Did you let it sit for awhile. I usually spray mine and let it sit overnight. Then I nail it with an air gun.

You could try using a propane torch, but chances are you will just snap the rest off too. So, I'd say grab your favorite breaker bar, and go to town.

BTW, I had the same thing happen to me, but in my case they started to come out, then decided to snap...all three did.

Oh, and not sure what kind of penetrating lube you use, but I love this stuff called PB Blaster.

I thought the bolts on the stock manifolds were welded into the Stock manifold assembly. You mean your having problems getting the nuts out right?

When I did mine they were rusted to hell.....But the "Breaker Bar" took em out with no problem.

ARe you doing a header install?

There are studs that screw into the manifold side, and the nuts hold it on the y-pipe side.

well the drivers side had bolts, the previous owner must have taken the studs out and put bolts in, they came out great!, but the other side still has the studs in it, i was thinking of just going ahead and snapping them off and putting hooker LT's on .

Well if you are just taking the manifolds off, save yourself the hassle and snap them puppies off!

you want to do the heat on the heads if you were going to go that route. what good would making the bolt larger be? i second or third the pb blaster, let it sit, and reapply once and hour for 3 - 6 hours and try again.
