Help with guideplates

Okay im fricken confused. I bought some manely guideplates to go with my nsa 1.6 pro mags, but I read that depending on the placement of the guide plates it maybe necessary to loosen the rocker stud and adjust them so the push rod is position correclty -- is that right?

So should i bother with screwing the studs in and installing the guideplates before i put the heads on and assemble the rockers since i'll probably have to loose an adjust them anyway?

I should have just bought SA pro mags?! <-- anyone wanna trade?

Which guideplates did you buy? Are they adjustable?

When we installed my guideplates, almost all of them were lined up perfectly right from the start. There is not much room for error. IF you have to adjust them, it is only a very tiny bit. One way to make this even easier is to use ARP studs. They have guideplate locater shanks at the top of the base threads.

You should be buying plates that are specifically ok for the LT1 (or adjustable)-not plain SBC plates. This, with plate suggestions, is mentioned in about every thread around about guideplates. Hope does not always get them lined up right.

I will reference the part number. My machine shop bought them for me.. and they knew it was for an lt1 but i will double check.

A lot of shops think they are the same. Don't rely on them to be right.

i second this. Happens all the time with the LT1. I run GMPP guideplates because there's no need to adjust anything, they are for the LT1. Shoebox has the GM part number for these.

If you do have to buy new guideplates, alot of people including myself are using the Trickflows. Good guideplates and very well priced.
