Help?? Engine swap and overheating!!!

I have finished or thought i finished putting my lt1 in my 79' mercedes but on the fourth test drive i was on the freeway and all the sudden the needle started climbing up to 240 (autometer guage and sender), i shut off the car and waited and later that day made it home,
i assumed that the radiator was just too old (stock mercedes) and i had a new jegs aluminum radiator coming in the mail so i installed it today, in the garage the same thing is happening.

I hooked up the system as best i could based on what i have read, i have no heater core so i put a reducer in line between the the in and out of the heater lines on the front of the water pump, i then teed the steam vent line from the heads (runs through the throttle body) into the middle between the heeter in and out after the reducer. by doing this i had flow with the old radiator and it ran between 205 and 215 the first 3 long test drives, now the driver side of the radiator seems to be getting most of the flow and the passenger side hose doesn't seem as hot as the driver side?

I have read someone else having this problem and that even though they had flow their water pump was now working all the way???

Do i not have something hooked up wrong???

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Maurice

did you bleed the system? do you have any way to bleed it? You should have atleast one bleeder screw from the wp/thermostat housing.

I had the same problem after my install. Did you cap off the lower driver side of the pump or put a straight through hose? I capped mine off and it started working correctly.

Re: Help?? Engine swap and overheating!!!

i restricted the flow, i didn't know i could cap it, if i do, do i hook the steam vent (throttle body) to the upper hose?

I bled the system and i started get more flow but still the tempature stays for a while and then start to go up, but not as high as before, ill try and bleed it more.

Thanks,
Maurice
