Help choosing spark plug heat range and gap
Help choosing spark plug heat range and gap
Ok well long story short. I believe I need to use about one heat range colder then the stock plug. Its an lt1 motor with basicly 6'' rods, flat top pistons, dart pro 1 heads, and cc306 cam. All the bolt ons and the whatnot too. I did a search and I think I am blind. If anybody has any part numbers or possibly a chart or somthing to get a better idea that'd be awesome. Any input on the heat range?

There's a spark plug application guide stickied on the N2O Tech forum:

Re: Help choosing spark plug heat range and gap
So tr6's and a gap of .035 sounds like the way to go then I take it. Thanks for the input guys I will give those a shot. Oh also I am not sure if it matters or not. I dont think it does but should ask anyways, I had forgot to mention a msd 6al box on the car. That wont effect what heat range I should use will it?
Re: Help choosing spark plug heat range and gap
The MSD box might help burn off some deposits on the electrodes, but it's the plug insulator that collects carbon on it until it eventually shorts the plug. If it's too cold, it will just foul and run crappy, but if it's too hot, it can cause detonation under a heavy load. So start off with the colder plug and if it's (fuel) fouling too often, then try a hotter heat range or check your fueling.
