HELP car won't run after cam install!
I said it kinda complicated, but what I meant was that with the cam in the 3 o'clock position, the engine is at #6 TDC. the opti has a slot on the back for the cam dowel pin, it also has marks on both sides, a 1 for #1 TDC with the cam in the 6' o clock position, and a 6 for #6 TDC with the cam in the 3' oclock position. So if you point the keyed dowel hole on the opti at the correct TDC number it makes it easier to line up to sit flush on the block, and you know your timing is correct.
hmmm, ok, I just look for the right hole in the opti to stick the pin in and line it up, kinda like sex, I don't need to put her in the 6 oclock position to find the right hole.
haha formula.
Well my pin was the same length as stock I measured it with a caliper. The pin fell in the indentation next to the slot. Not quite as deep, but enuf to get it on where I couldn't tell the difference.
Maybe my logic is flawed, but since the cam rotates once while the crank rotates twice, you should be able to line up the dots 12 crank 6 oclock cam or 12 oclock 12 oclock. The opti only goes on 1 way and always points to the correct cylinder.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
