The vacuum line to the opti just vents ozone from the high voltage side of the opti. if you got moisture in the opti, you might get lucky and it will dry out. But if it doesn't and it continues to pop, I would strongly recommend changing the whole thing and not just the cap and rotor. That is if in fact the opti is found to be the culprit of course.

Summit has OEM (AC Delco) for 300, so I assume Jason has them for about 260/280?

If you want genuine OEM opti's you can get them from "thepartsladi" on ebay. I have bought from her twice. I got an AC Delco opti for $280 shipped and I bought a Delphi (also OEM) for a buddy for $230 shipped. They both came in original packaging and arrived in about a week. Prices can't be beat.

I was wondering if the crank posistion sensor could cause this problem? I forgot to plug the sensor in and the car was poping and backfiring. I drove it for about 3 days untill I could get a scanner to read the codes. what is the chance that the CPS is faulty but not setting any codes?

FYI: I just ordered an opti from thepartsladi. we'll see what happens.
