help on cam choice

alright, so, motors been on its way for a while now, and i finally want to get it done
a)242/248 584/579(with 1.5s)
b) 243/251 560/565 (with 1.5s)
c)neither

my goals are i want low 11's and decent streetability. I will be running probably a 3200-3600 stall, and 3.73 gears

Those cams, assuming similar lobe profiles and lsa, are within a gnats hair of each other. They are also both high lift for street cams and you better have top quality springs to get decent spring life.

I thought I posted it, but the lift on A is with 1.6 RR. Check the comp cams lobe catalog if you don't believe me. Summit isn't always right.

I chose the second cam, btw. I like the Lunati lobes a little better, for some reason... (hint: high lift and low lsa)

yeah, im leaning towards the lunati. I will get w/e springs they recommend probably, or maybe some PACs or 941s. For drivability, would the 2nd cam (lunati 60123) affect it too much?

Well, that's a really big cam for the street, so yeh, I would say it would affect drivability a good bit. The springs they recommend for their cams seem to be very small. I think the one they said would be good for the 60122 had 100lbs of seat pressure? I would use beehives no matter what, though. They rev a lot better among other things.

sorry, it will be a 383, flat top pistons w/ -5cc valve relief, ported trickflow heads (64cc chambers)

I talked to a local car guru, and he told me the bigger cam (2nd one) and try to get it ground so i can do the 4-7 plug wire swap, and on like a 112 LSA instead of the 110, what do u guys think?

4/7 swap isn't going to gain anything at that level of power.......maybe smooth it out, I don't see it being worth the money.

Why 64cc chambers?
