Question helicoil question

I messed up a header bolt hole bad enough to where a 3/8 helicoil will not fit. Has anyone tried and successfully installed a 7/16 helicoil for a header bolt hole?

Re: helicoil question

I wonder if they make the helicoil (or similar insert) that has a bigger outside diameter, but would still be 3/8 inside? That would solve your problem, right?

Talk to a machine shop. They would know.

Re: helicoil question

I am almost certain there is helicoil to do exactly as you want. Tap the hole one size larger than final thread size. I agree with Shoebox, talk to a machine shop.
