Headers/Y-Pipe Ordered...will borla still work?

Howdy,

As the title says, i've ordered my Pacesetter Ceramic coated headers and corresponding Y-pipe along with 02 extensions for my 97 Z28. My question is, will i still be able to use my "cat-back" borla exhaust with this setup? I don't have emissions so i suppose im gonna leave the cats off and get some rear 02 sims, but i was curious if i was going to need a custom exhaust or if the borla would still work?

Thanks for your help,
Dave

It will still work. You might have to do a little fabrication like cutting your Borla I-pipe or something but other than that it will work fine.

I have the same Header and Y setup. You will cut off well behind the cat because the Y sits much further back. This will prolly cause you to have to cut the Borla a bit for it to work. I am running no cats. I would recommend you getting a tune instead of getting the simulators because you will want to get it tuned anyway. The tune will program out the EGR, which will give an SES code with no cats. I used madz28.com and was really pleased. Also, if you got coated headers be prepared to put in new O2 sensors. As the excess coating burned off on the initial 50 miles they coated the sensors and caused them to crap out.

Just my .02 since I just did this a week ago.

What i meant by getting o2 sims is that the computer will go crazy with the rear o2 seansors with no cats so im getting sims to replace the rears. I still plan on getting a dyno tune, or just a custom tune to get me by for awhile. Did you order your longtubes with EGR and AIR? Also what installation kit did you use for your headers? How long did it take you also? I've got access to a 4 post lift if it matters, even though it says i just need to get the front a little 20" off the stock height which isn't a problem with my crazy ramps i have.

Thanks,
Dave
