Headers installed- but won't pass inspection
Re: Headers installed- but won't pass inspection
The ALDL connector gets power from the same fuse as the cig lighter. If the fuse is blown, might cause the scanner to "not connect". Check the fuse for the lighter.

. I love your cars!!! You also just nailed one of my problems to the floor I think. I noticed my lighter wasnt working the other day, hahaha.....you are very intelligent, thanks for all your help so far!!!
Are the fuses in the car or under the hood? Are they marked or should I use my haynes book?

There is a fuse panel on the end of the dash on the driver's side. The cig lighter fuse will be in there. There are also fuses and relays in the rectangular "convenience" box sitting under the hood on the front of the dirver's side inner fender liner. But you don't need to go poking in there.
Re: Headers installed- but won't pass inspection
Yeah the codes say not ready. So I drove about 150 miles now. But I really have to drive 300 + miles huh? I'll give it a shot. If that doesn't work then I'll pay to have pcm tuned.
Re: Headers installed- but won't pass inspection
I went through 2 tanks of gas or approx 500 miles of mostly highway driving with only a little city driving.
After 1 reflash both my O2s read ready but the AIR wouldn't. I have cats but run O2 sims.
After reflashing the pcm to add back the EGR by setting the test parameters impossibly high and enabling the PO400 diagnostics test which was turned off when I had the EGR edited out earlier ( I have LT-1 Edit), O2 sensor wouldn't reset but the AIR read ready after about 300 miles,
and the O2 heater and the EGR both read ready within 100 miles,
Catalyst didn't want to reset but I got my new sticker in June with 2 not readys, so I'm set for the next year.
I had been checking my monitors and clearing my codes with Proscan for the months before my test so I knew when my car would pass.
Proscan works with an Elmscan interface which will run other monitoring programs. I wouldnt recommend Digimoto as their software never got the monitors right.
The Proscan and interface is about 120.00 and also has a virtual 1/4 mile with 60 ft and 8th mile and 1/4 mile times and speeds as well as a dynomometer tool and some other stuff.
I, gonna check out the other pars of the software soon but it's great for knowing when my car reads 2 monitors or less ready.
Maybe my catalyst will read ready eventually
I'm gonna check it each time I reflash my pcm or clear codes. May replace one of my rear O2s as I know it throws a code.

Awesome Cub!!! Thanks for the link, I am buying one of those for sure so I dont have to go to Autozone and have some punk tell me he doesnt know what he is doing anymore.....wonder how accurate the 1/4 mile is?!?! NEAT!!!
Re: Headers installed- but won't pass inspection
Yes it will work with any GM OBDII with the vpw interface, not just f-bodys.
I also got a pwm ford interface for my and my girlfriends 99 and 97 Taurus.

Re: Headers installed- but won't pass inspection
I found that holding a bat in your hand while the emissions guy is scanning your car works wonders for passing successfully.

Here's a website with some free scanning software that will work with the elmscsn interface.
