I want to put on headers on on formula, it's an LT1, most likely some shorties since I need to pass emmisions , I was thinking on the Mac headers. What headers would you guys recommend?

Re: header recommendations

I have mac headers and they are pretty awesome. Keep in mind that just because the headers have emissions hookup it doesnt necessarily mean you will pass smog if the guys are **** since they do not carry a CARB#

Re: header recommendations

Hooker super comps shorties. Very nice headers, no comparison to edelbrocks, and carry carb number too

Re: header recommendations

Have the Pacesetter LT's without emissions but am very happy with them. Quality was nice for the price and the install was for the most part uneventful.

The Macs are one of the better mid-lengths to choose from.

Re: header recommendations

I just got the MAC ML headers for my fresh build (fully forged bottom end, ported heads, hotcam kit, etc) and they are great

Re: header recommendations

I am really deciding towards the Mac mid lengths but do they make them ceramic coated, also another question, should I have a problem installing them since the very last bolt on my passenger side manifolod(on the #8 cyl.) broke off and the remainder of the bolt is still on the cyl. head, but I heard that headers dont use that bolt hole, they use the one on the right of the one that the manifold uses.Is this true?

Re: header recommendations

My hooker LT's use all the stock bolt holes. It doesn't make much sense that other headers wouldn't...

Re: header recommendations

The Macs are the only headers I've seen that use the outer bolt holes, i.e. the same ones that the stock manifolds use.

You could drill 4 new holes in the header flanges if you want to use the same holes and gaskets that most headers use. Or just drill the one that's a problem.

Re: header recommendations

Formula where are you from first of all? All depends if they have the visual inspection in your state. Don't have it here in MD. Im running Pacesetter LT's with offroad Y with no problems. Also I had the same problem with my header bolt breaking off in the heads. Forced me to do a head/cam swap.

Re: header recommendations

I'm from S.California and emmisions is stiffer out here. And I had posted my problem about that last bolt on the passenger side(on #8 cyl) breaking off, and a member said that headers dont use that bolt hole that they use the one next to it.Also since I'm going to take off the manifold to see if I can get that bolt out, hopefully a piece of it is hanging out of the cyl. head so I can try to use some WD-40 and like some vice grips to get it out.Since I'm gonna go through all that trouble I might as well put on headers since I'm already there.

Re: header recommendations

Yeah HOPEFULLY it doesnt use that bolt hole. More then likely, with the aluminum heads, that hole is stripped out and will have to be retapped. The way our motors sit back so far its nearly impossible to put in a heli-coil in with the heads on the car.

Re: header recommendations

I received Pacesetter LT's with warped flanges, and it's now month 3+ and I still don't have replacements.

Go with a better brand.
