Header opening on 1-7/8" header vs 1-3/4" header?

I measured my opening on my Hooker LT's flange and I get 1.65" height X 1.32" width.

I need to know the size of the opening of a 1-7/8" header flange port. Is it the same or larger?

The reason I ask is measured my exhaust port and it is 1.65" height X 1.62" width.

I imagine this will cost me some horsepower eh?

strange....so your exhaust ports on your heads are bigger than the ports on your headers? Seems like that will create some turbulance and cost you some power. If you are running 11.7 at 116mph (i'm assuming this is the car you are talking about) I would say 1 3/4 primaries should be fine. If there plenty of metal there you might want to smooth that out a little but i'm not sure

That is what my combo years ago ran in the sig.

These heads are pretty stout heads and have been heavily ported, intake and exhaust.

AFR 210's
Flow with no pipe on exhaust
lift -intake-exhaust
.200-129.1-106.7
.300-193.4-153.0
.400-247.4-190.0
.500-288.8-220.3
.600-318.3-239.0
.700-322.5-251.7

Those exhaust flow #'s mean little if the first thing the exhaust hits on the way out is a reduction of 20% area to get the exhaust out.

On the phone with Kooks right now for you. He's measuring the 1 3/4 stepped headers (the only ones they offer for us????). I'll let you know in a few minutes after he measures it.

Ok - here's the deal:

Exhaust ports WITHOUT the pipe - H 1.766 / W 1.675

Tubing is .049

Between the bolt holes and the port opening is .085

Call me at the office.

I am going to buy some Kook's today and resolve this problem.

The best price I can find for them are $840.00 + shipping. Ouch...

I got the headers yesterday.

Compared to my Hooker LT's...well, not much of a comparison.

I measured the exhaust port on the Kooks...1.71" X 1.62" pretty big and stout.

The exhaust gasket that was sent wtih the Kooks mirrors my exhaust ports...very nice...very.

$868 shipped was not to bad either.
