Header gasket change HELP!!!

Alright I changed the driver side gasket with no problems at all. But the passenger is a whole different story. I have lost 2 things now down inbetween the header where it splits and then goes to the collector. So i have on of my bolts down in between where it goes into the collector. I am now trying to get the passenger side header out. It doenst want to come out at all...I have tried everything an nothing seems to work... I use to have an a4 transmission and it seemed to have gone in easier...and now the the bellhousing on my m6 seems to be getting in the way? I cant seem to angle it out just right....can someone please give me some suggestions on doing this??

Re: Header gasket change HELP!!!

I used a thin piece of wire to stick between the primaries and pushed the bolt back up intil I could grab it. I found some old windsheild wiper blades and took out the thin metal part in them. I guess might even beable to use a cloths hanger. I hope this helps

I agree... I'd try to fish it out before taking the header off... If you do have to take it off though, Jack up the motor a little, it helps tons...

Re: Header gasket change HELP!!!

take some .041 safety wire and make a electro magnet and pull yank it out with that. Or maybe wind up some duct tape into a long strand then get it down in there as best that you can and stuff it in. Then give her a pull! Don't get the tape stuck...it will smell later. Good luck man.
