Wow, thanks for all the replies. I'm really considering going with an AI 200cc head/cam package. If I do that then what do I need to do the the bottom half? With 235K on it I'm surely gonna rebuild it as well. What do I need to do with it? Leave it stock? Thanks again guys.

Call Ai and talk to them...they know what they are doing and seel engine kits and can lead you in the right direction.

You have to understand alot of the opinons you get on here will be wrong. Anyone can type what they want.....so take peoples advice for what its worth

do some research, decide the company you want to go with and talk to them about the rest they will be more than happy to help you

 

Another thing to mention...is someone thats may not build many engines but wants a good quality pc. is check out the vendors they sell complete engines.

After you swap everything you need to reude you can sell you old stuff and get a nice chunk of money back....After I started getting into engines and learning alot more, for the average person they really can't beat it. Anyone can put together a smallblock but for it to be right and last/make good power etc. it needs to be done by a pro...or someone who has done quite a bit

 

clean it up, bore it, reuse the stock crank, get some decent rods (Scat i-beams), new Mahle pistons (.030" over), zero-deck the block, new bearings, spend some money on a nice top end package (AI 200cc), one of their cam recommendations, and pay very close attention to assembly detail, balance, compression, quench and valvetrain geometry, and you will have a strong 355 CI engine.

 

I will admit I have no right even stating my opinion. I still know very little about cars in general. I just read on this board a lot and I have been informed on many things by the vendors and moderators. It has taken me 4 years to finally break down and buy some heads to get started on my first real engine build.
