having somone do the cam install for me?

Im 16 own a 94 Z28, and my dad knows alot about cars and cam installs, and he really doesnt want to tackle doing the cam install on this car. may i add this car is a daily driver which i need for every day. it cant be out of comission for longer than a couple days. Could I get someone to do the install for about 500-600 $$$ or is it way more then that. Im problably going to drop the hot cam, or the comp cams xe 218/224. Any help, advice, or replies would definetly help. PLease help.

With out headers you wont see the gain in hp that you would expect, due to the restriction of the stock mainifolds. Like a bottle neck in the system if you will.

Your sig lacks a location, and labor rates vary a lot from area to area. Around here, the only place that I would trust for that kind of work charges $78/h, so there's no way $5-600 would do it. OTOH, in other parts of the country you might pay 1/2 this rate. The cheapest way is to find a good mechanic who is willing to work "on the side" for cash.

I paid 1300 for my cam install, that's with new opti, timing chain etc..and my car was out for a week (daily driver) I honestly didn't think I could tackle a cam install by myself. Then I did a head swap on my own (with a friend) a headache but well worth it.

Look around and go with a reputable shop, it might cost a little bit extra.

Personally I would fugure out a way to get around for a week or so and do it myself. If you have the right tools and read up on the proceedure you could do it in a couple of days. Once you get into to it Im sure the old man want let you suffer too much befor lending a hand

Oh BTW, to answer your question. Install would be about $800 in Atlanta.

Maybe you can come to a compromise with your pop. You do all the work, he provides guidance/tasks to complete and inspects... Plus you have this board and Shoebox's cam install guide (whish I had that when I undertook the job!) to help!

maybe you can ask around on this board for local guys that have done it before to help you out. It would go a lot faster and you'd meet some good people at the same time.

Massachusetts the average price for cam install is 6-800 dollars and down for a week...That's only if the shop wants to work on it

Good point on the down time...Most shops will take at least a week even if they tell you 2 days. Youll most likely have less down time if you do it yourself.
