having a hard time getting my optispark in

Well im rebuilding the motor and the optispark isnt going in at all, itll go in about half way and then it just wont go anymore, im thinking that it has something to do with the oring i got being too big. someone here just told me to use orings for it and itll be fine. Do i need special orings for it to fit?

thanks

Orings come with the timing cover gasket set. Did you check the length of the cam dowel pin?

the cam dowel pin isnt seating where it should. put it in the hole on the back of the opti with the knotches.

Suggestion - when you post a question like this, include at least the year of the car so that people can give you the correct info...... not all years of the LT1 are the same. Most people set up a "signature" with basic info like year, model, tranny, major mods, etc.

take the cap off, put it on that way so you can turn the rotor in place.

Do you have the opti lined up properly? Here's a photo from Shoebox's site of the 95 - 97 alignment:
