Just out of curiosity why would you want to? There arent really any gains from it, unless you wanted to put like a crate type engine in it. Even if you just wanted to carb it they make stuff to transform the EFI engines to carbeurated.

Hell, I thought about doing it, cheaper then buying a new LS1 plus you get a 24,000 mile warranty. My car gives me so much hell, only put 3k miles on it since I got it in september. Off the road more then it's on it.

i was also wondering the same thing. Because you could a sbc a lot cheaper than a lt1 crate engine. Lt1's seem to have so many problems also

I put a carb'd SBC into my 97 SS. It wasn't that bad of an install really.

Interior wise everything was left stock (power windows, seats, locks, etc).

I used a motor plate for my car, mostly because there wasn't really a motor mount combo that worked with a factor k-member. There are a few companys that make an aftermarket k-member with SBC mounts, but with the LT1 and SBC using different motor mounts I chose the motor plate route.
