Re: harmonic balancer with underdrive pulley removal

Did you try a generous application of something like PB Blaster, at least 24 hours before you tried to remove the damper? Did you try some gentle tapping with a hammer? Does the U/D pulley behind the damper prevent you from getting a 3-jaw puller in the inside diameter of the damper?

i sprayed some brake cleaner on it today and yes the diameter of the od pulley does not allow the puller to fit. any other suggestions thanks.

Pound it with a rubber mallet, I never bother with a puller .

Brake cleaner is not a rust penetrant. Use the correct material..... might work better.

Are you saying you can't get the puller over the spokes of the pulley, like this (not over the outside of the damper, where the pulley would interfere with it):

Re: harmonic balancer with underdrive pulley removal

Brake cleaner will penitrate rust but lets not get into that. As i said before i have tried to use pullers and they are no good. In the area where the clamp atatches to the pulley in the pic is flush with the underdrive pulley. I have also tried using standard pullers. Any other suggestions? I need to get this piece off.
Thanks
